Labor Day fun!

Labor Day, what to do on Labor Day? Well, we really couldn't decide. Picnic? Lake? Downtown Seattle? We had wanted to go camping, but it's hard to organize and to accomplish while having a 10 month old. We ended up deciding to do a day camping trip. My mom, dad, my sister, Dave, my cousin Michelle, her twins, her 3 year old, and Daphne all went. We went up in the early afternoon to Cascade Park (property owned by the church). It's only about 10 minutes from here, which was nice. We all arrived around 11:30 and got a nice fire started, it was a little chilly, and started cooking brunch. We had eggs, bacon, sausage, pancakes, and OJ. It was yummy. We then played some games, read, relaxed, played on the playground, and just had a good ol' time. We let the fire burn down to coals and we assembled "hobo" dinners. It was hamburger, potatoes, onions, carrots, wrapped in cabbage and then foil. They turned out so good. It was just a perfect relaxing day. The weather was nice and by about 2 or 3, no one was there. We had the place to ourselves. It was nice to let the kids be able to roam free. Evie did really well. She actually took naps and was in a pretty good mood all day. I think we'll do it again next year.

Finally blogging

Ok, I am starting a blog. I have actually had this since July, but this is the first time I have written on it. Today I am exploring blogspot and figuring out how to do stuff. I guess I'll give a current update on the family. I think tomorrow I will post pictures from our Labor Day fun. Well, Dave and I have been living here with my parents since March. It has been really nice and has been great for my mom. She's been pretty sick and has appreciated the help and upliftment Evie has been to her everyday. We moved in to help her out, and now she is doing much better. Still not back to normal, but almost. Derek will be returning from his mission to Australia on October 7th and will be needing his room back. We think we have found a place in Everett and will be moving in the next week or so. Dave is working for Canteen Vending full time with my dad. He is also working his way up on the long shoring ladder, and working on writing a book. He has some great ideas and a very interesting story. He hopes to one day get it published. Go Dave! I am just staying home and playing mommy to our beautiful daughter. She is so much fun. She is definitely turning into a toddler, which makes me sad and happy at the same time. I get to see her personality develop, see her learn new things and become so independent, but she is losing that little baby neediness. It has been a wonderful journey! I'm sure I'll blog all about her little experiences along the way. She sure loves to eat and she loves her Barney! I don't mind it so much because she loves it! She is loving to crawl and stand. She'll explore the perimeter of the living room by walking from the couch to the chair, from the chair to the desk, the desk to the TV, etc. She has had a few little spills, but that's to be expected. She loves her bath time and loves kids. Speaking of Evie.....she is ready for a nap. My cue to go. I guess I'll blog more later.
